# Managing an onboarded user

Every row on **Manage Users** carries the same action set, whichever way the user was onboarded.

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

## View a user’s details

Click the **eye** icon.

The user’s details open read-only.

{% endstep %}

{% step %}

## Edit a user

Click the **pencil** icon.

The record opens for editing, using the same steps as the **Add User** wizard.

{% endstep %}

{% step %}

## Share the initial password

Normally the user does not need this. When an account is created, SECUREpass emails the user their sign-in details along with an initial password. The user signs in with that password and is then prompted to set a new one of their own.

The **key** icon is there for the cases where that does not happen — the user did not receive the email, or the password needs to be shared again. Click it to see the initial password SECUREpass generated for that user, then pass it on so they can sign in and set their own.

{% endstep %}

{% step %}

## View custom attributes

Click the `{}` icon. The **Custom Attributes** dialog shows the attributes held against that user, as key–value JSON.

Click **Close** to dismiss it.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

## Activate or deactivate a user

Use the **Status** toggle on the user’s row. Imported users arrive **INACTIVE** — switch the toggle to **ACTIVE** when they are ready to sign in.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

## Delete a user

Click the **bin** icon.

{% hint style="warning" %}
Deletion removes the user from SECUREpass. If the user came from a connected directory and is still present there, the next scheduled sync may fetch them again. To stop someone signing in without deleting the record, set their **Status** to **INACTIVE** instead.
{% endhint %}
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}
