# Public applications

Public applications are externally hosted, browser-based SaaS applications — Google, GitHub, the AWS Console, Facebook and similar — that SECUREpass brokers access to rather than hosting itself. Because they live on the public internet and are reached through a browser, access requires the SECUREpass desktop client and browser extension, which inject the stored credentials into the login page so the user never sees or handles the password.

Open the **Public Application** tab on the **Setup Your Applications** page.

Credentials are held one of two ways:

* **Individual** — each user has their own vaulted username and password, so activity is attributable to a named person.
* **Shared** — one central account is used by everyone granted access, for team or vendor logins where per-user accounts are not available.

## Create a public application

Click **+ Create New**.

| Field                | Description                                                                                                                                                                   |
| -------------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Application Name** | Required. The name users will see                                                                                                                                             |
| **Description**      | What the application is for                                                                                                                                                   |
| **URL**              | Required. The application's login page                                                                                                                                        |
| **Application Logo** | Upload PNG, JPG, SVG, WebP or GIF up to 2 MB, or paste a direct image URL. The preview updates live                                                                           |
| **Auth Type**        | Required. Which fields the login form has, so the extension knows what to inject. **Password** and **TOTP**; tick both where the application asks for a one-time code as well |
| **Credential Type**  | Required. **Individual** or **Shared**                                                                                                                                        |

Where **TOTP** is selected, the one-time code is generated by SECUREpass.

Click **Create**. The application appears in the list.

## Add from the catalog

SECUREpass ships with a catalogue of common SaaS applications already configured. Click **+ Add from Catalog**.

Click the application you want.

Its details are already filled in. Review them and click **Create**.

The application is onboarded.
