# Importing an application configuration

Click **Import Configuration** and choose **Import from JSON** or **Import from Excel**.

Selecting **Import from JSON** opens the upload dialog.

Open the **Download template** dropdown, choose the protocol you are configuring, and download the matching template.

The downloaded file shows the structure to follow.

Fill it in, save it, then click the upload option and select your file.

The details from the file populate the application.

**Import from Excel** works the same way.

Choose the protocol from the **Download template** dropdown and download the template.

The template shows the format the data must follow.

Once filled, click **Click to upload**, select your file and click **Open**.

The details are imported into the application.
