# Broadcast notice

A broadcast notice is a message shown to users inside SECUREpass for a set period — planned maintenance, a policy change, a deadline. It reaches people who are already signed in, without going through email.

Select **Configuration → Broadcast Notice**. The page lists the notices already created, with who each is aimed at, its message and its status.

## Creating a notice

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

### Broadcast details

Select **Create Broadcast Notice**.

Enter the message and the window it is shown in: a start date and time, and an end date and time.

{% hint style="warning" %}
Set the end date deliberately. A notice with a distant end date stays on screen long after it stops being true, and users learn to ignore the banner.
{% endhint %}
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Assign group / users

Choose who sees it. Switch between assigning **Users** and **Groups** with the dropdown, and search when the list runs long.

{% hint style="info" %}
Assign to a group rather than to individuals where you can. A notice aimed at "everyone in Finance" reaches whoever is in Finance on the day it shows, not whoever was when you wrote it.
{% endhint %}
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Create the notice

Select **Create Broadcast Notice**.

It appears in the list as **Scheduled** and shows itself during its window.
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

## Editing and deleting

The row actions edit or remove a notice. Editing reopens the same two steps, so the message, the window and the audience can all be changed.

Deleting asks for confirmation and cannot be undone.

{% hint style="info" %}
Edit rather than delete when a notice is wrong but still needed — deleting loses the record that it was ever shown.
{% endhint %}
